Hi Daniel,
Great blog. Glad to hear you’re still alive and kicking. Keep writing.
I was born in Sorsogon City in 1960 and lived in the United States from 1968 to 2004. I write stories for children. You can read them on http://www.gubatnet.blog.com . My future goal is to write the blockbuster novels like Tom Clancy, of course, to raise capital to create jobs in the Philippines; but like they teach in America it might take an entire lifetime just to publish one novel, what more get paid. My grandparents and my mother conditioned me to help the country someday, so rich or poor I knew I had to return to my birth country eventually.
I returned to my birth country with nothing totally dependent on my parents, retired from their professions.
My grandparents and my parents were from Dwight D. Eisenhower’s philosophy of farming to eat that would feed the people and corporations to prosper, and my grandpa nicknamed me IKE so I grew up believing in the Ancient Greeks’ market economy no matter what type of government; but I really believe in it. Trust in government or a King or even a Queen, it is unrealistic without freedoms of allowing the people to have rights of commerce. But I am not naïve, authority has to establish limitation till the people decides a totalitarian government crossed the line like in the 1951 movie Quo Vadis (Latin, meaning “Where are you going?”) with the ending the people chased Nero out of power. Many martyrs died first however.
Since I did not have the money to start a movie studio like Pinewood Studios in England, I decided to be a freelance writer to teach it. Our people are mostly short so an industrial society is counter productive, we would need taller Americans to take our jobs. But Eisenhower believed in Hollywood to entertain his troops. We are capable of a movie industry to raise the capital to create more industries our children can achieve. We would not need experts from Harvard University, for example, for that idea; and my parents graduated from the University of Santo Tomas that has twenty-five years of more experience in dealing with the world. Our brightest children just needs to stay and build a kingdom instead of enriching another country only to belittle the Philippines believing Americans are better.
Sorry, once I started writing I get long winded. I hope that helps. I have not written an autobiography.
